Why OLEA? A Q&A with an OLEA buyer

29 Jan 2021

Camana Bay’s first for-sale residential development, OLEA, is set to welcome its first owners this spring. With various community amenities, such as the island’s first lazy river, a resort-style pool and a yoga garden, OLEA offers an opportunity to live in a walkable, award-winning sustainable community.

Provenance Properties Sales Specialist Shanice Ebanks met with Katya Bennett, a current tenant at The Terraces in Camana Bay, who recently purchased at OLEA. Katya shared why OLEA and living within the Camana Bay community were the best choice for her family.

Q: Why Camana Bay?
KB: Camana Bay is the heart of Grand Cayman; there is something for everybody, with entertainment for any age. Whether it be a fun day with your family and kids, shopping, catching up with friends or just enjoying quiet time by yourself, the Camana Bay community has it all.

Q: What has been your favourite part about living in Camana Bay?
KB: The proximity of all amenities is the biggest advantage for me. The modern pace of life is fast. That's why it's great to be able to nip out for a coffee or to the shops without getting into the car and wasting precious time on driving. In a way, it feels like being in Europe with all the amenities concentrated in one place and on your doorstep.

Q: What attributes are you looking for in an ideal home for your family?
KB: The most important is a safe place that is kid- and pet-friendly, as well as a central location close to the beach and shopping.

Q: Have you strolled over the Rise to Seven Mile Beach or taken a Cayman Ferries ride to Kaibo?
KB: We walk regularly to Seven Mile Beach — the Rise makes that very convenient! We have also taken the ferry to Kaibo on multiple occasions. It is a lovely and fast way to get there and enjoy a meal with a glass of wine without the worry of driving.

Q: Do you find you walk more living in Camana Bay?
KB: I have barely used my car since we moved to Camana Bay. Everything is within walking distance and it feels liberating, as I don’t need to consider traffic when I am planning my day.

Q: What has made your life easier since relocating to Camana Bay?
KB: Entertaining our toddler, which doesn't take much effort or planning. He loves playing in the fountains or exploring his surroundings. He spends a lot of time playing there with his friends. We go downstairs and a play date is almost guaranteed. It is a safe environment and we don't have to worry about traffic.

Q: What was it about OLEA that made you want to live there?
KB: Originally it was the proximity to Camana Bay. But as we learned more, we realised that it is a superb development with great amenities that we as a family will enjoy.

This article will appear in the February 2021 print edition of Camana Bay Times with the headline "Q&A: Why OLEA."
